Ethereum ETFs Shine as Traditional Havens Dim

Amid a muted macro backdrop, Ethereum ETFs are where the action is.

Safe Havens Stagnate On Trade Truce

While markets welcomed the U.S.-China tariff pause, traditional safe havens showed muted reactions. U.S. 10-year Treasury yields held firm at 4.39%, signaling persistent economic concerns, while gold dipped to $3,216/oz amid a hawkish Fed and strong economic data. Despite geopolitical risks keeping investors cautious, these assets failed to capitalize on the trade détente.

Ethereum Breaks Out Amid Bullish Upgrades

In stark contrast, Ethereum is riding a wave of bullish momentum, with its price breaking past $2,600— well above its $1,900 realized price, indicating broad profitability for holders. The recent Pectra upgrade has further fueled optimism by boosting transaction speeds and accelerating ETH’s burn rate, tightening supply as institutional demand grows.

BlackRock’s ETF Move Accelerates ETH Adoption

BlackRock made a decisive play for Ethereum, filing an SEC amendment to enable in-kind redemptions for its spot Ethereum ETF (ETHA). This change would streamline transactions, improve liquidity, and offer tax advantages—key features for institutional investors. The asset manager also expanded its ETH holdings by 8,000 tokens, solidifying its position as the largest corporate holder with over $3 billion worth of Ethereum.

With rivals like VanEck and Invesco also advancing their Ethereum ETF plans, the stage is set for potential regulatory approvals by year-end. As gold and bonds tread water, Ethereum’s trifecta of technical upgrades, ETF momentum, and shrinking supply is drawing a new wave of institutional capital—positioning ETH as a standout asset in an uncertain macro climate.

Canadian Ethereum ETFs Shine with 27% Weekly Gains

Canadian Ethereum ETFs surged this week, outpacing broader crypto markets. Ether ETFs jumped 27.5% WTD, led by Purpose's staking ETF (ETHC.B) at 27.76% and CI Galaxy's ETHX.B at 27.66%. Even USD-denominated options like 3iQ's ETHQ gained 27.23%, showing ETH's strong cross-border appeal. The rally came with $6.5M in net inflows, signaling renewed confidence despite YTD declines. With Ethereum's technical upgrades and BlackRock's ETF push fueling momentum, these Canadian products are becoming key tools for investors seeking crypto exposure. Staking-enabled funds like ETHC.B are particularly well-positioned as institutional interest grows.
