ETF Launches
Evolve Adds Leveraged Technology Income Strategy
Evolve Funds launched the Evolve NASDAQ Technology UltraYield ETF (TECY) on the TSX, combining technology exposure with modest leverage and a covered-call income strategy. TECY invests through underlying fund QQQY, which holds leading technology companies and adjusts its level of covered-call writing based on volatility and other factors. TECY’s management fee was reduced from 0.50% to 0%, although QQQY continues to charge 0.50% plus applicable taxes and trading costs. The fund plans cash distributions at least twice monthly, with Evolve retaining discretion to increase the frequency.
RBC iShares Expands Fixed Income Lineup With Three ETF Series
RBC iShares added three fixed-income ETF Series managed by RBC Global Asset Management, with all three beginning trading on Cboe Canada on August 12. The RBC Emerging Markets Bond Fund – ETF Series (REMB) targets emerging-market government debt and charges a 0.75% management fee, while the RBC Global Corporate Bond Fund – ETF Series (RGCB) invests primarily in global investment-grade corporate bonds and charges 0.60%. The RBC High Yield Bond Fund – ETF Series (RHYB) focuses on higher-yielding Canadian and U.S. corporate debt and carries a 0.75% fee.
BlackRock Launches Bitcoin-Allocation and International Equity ETFs
BlackRock launched the iShares Equity + Bitcoin ETF Portfolio (IBQT) on the TSX, combining a 97% allocation to global equities with 3% Bitcoin exposure through BlackRock’s Canadian iShares Bitcoin ETF.
BlackRock also launched the iShares Core MSCI All-International Equity Index ETF (XINT), which tracks the MSCI ACWI ex North America IMI Index. The fund provides exposure to more than 5,000 large-, mid- and small-cap companies across more than 40 developed and emerging markets outside Canada and the U.S.
ETF Filings
Ninepoint Plans Seven Leveraged HighShares Income ETFs
Ninepoint Partners filed for seven additions to its HighShares ETF lineup spanning U.S. banks, Canadian utilities, aerospace and defense, global equities, commodity producers, technology and U.S. large-cap stocks. The proposed funds carry the tickers EBHI, EUHI, EDHI, EGHI, EPHI, EQHI and USHI, with management fees ranging from 0.40% to 0.60%. Each strategy would combine its underlying equity exposure with covered calls on up to 50% of portfolio exposure and leverage of up to 33% to enhance income and return potential.
Caldwell Files Active Global Infrastructure ETF Series
Caldwell Investment Management filed for the Caldwell-Lazard CorePlus Infrastructure Fund – ETF Series (CPIF CN), an actively managed strategy focused on a diversified portfolio of high-quality global infrastructure companies. The proposed fund would emphasize businesses with stable cash flows and consistent growth across global infrastructure markets and carry a 1.00% management fee.
