AI Boom Ignites Chinese Tech ETF Surge
Chinese tech ETFs surged as AI optimism and regulatory support drove the Hang Seng Tech Index into a bull market.

Chinese tech ETFs soared this week, gaining traction as investor sentiment turned bullish. The Hang Seng Tech Index marked its fifth straight week of gains, fueled by excitement over artificial intelligence advancements and expectations of regulatory support.
AI Frenzy Fuels Tech Stock Gains
DeepSeek, a rising Chinese AI company, has sparked fresh enthusiasm for China's tech sector. Its competitive AI model underscores China's growing strength in artificial intelligence, shifting the conversation from concerns over risks to untapped potential. This renewed optimism lifted key players like Alibaba, Xiaomi, Baidu, and BYD. Alibaba's Hong Kong-listed shares climbed 4.34% on February 14, signaling strong investor confidence.
Hang Seng Tech Index Powers into Bull Market
Hong Kong's leading tech index, which tracks the biggest technology firms listed in the region, officially entered a bull market, rebounding over 20% from its January lows. On February 14 alone, the index surged nearly 3.7%, reflecting the growing optimism in China's digital sector. Industry giants such as Alibaba (+20.5%), Baidu (+9.14%), and Tencent (+11.96%) recorded impressive weekly gains, driving the rally forward.
ETFs Ride the Wave of Market Optimism
Exchange-traded funds focused on Chinese equities also saw strong momentum. The iShares China Index ETF (XCH) climbed 5.98%, while the BMO MSCI China ESG Leaders Equity Index ETF (ZCH) advanced 8.66%. Despite these gains, Chinese tech stocks still trade at lower valuations than their U.S. counterparts, potentially offering more room for growth.
