Latest ETF Launches
Global X Expands With Seven Equity and Bond ETFs
Global X Canada launched seven ETFs spanning thematic equities, core Canadian exposure and fixed income. The equity additions include the Asia Semiconductor Index ETF (ACHP), targeting Asian semiconductor companies; Artificial Intelligence Memory Index ETF (DRAM), focused on memory and data-storage companies supporting AI; Korea KOSPI 200 Index ETF (KORX), providing broad South Korean equity exposure; and S&P/TSX Capped Composite Index ETF (CNDC), a broad Canadian equity strategy carrying a 0.05% management fee.
Global X also expanded its fixed-income lineup with the Canadian Universe Bond Index ETF (AGGX), tracking the broad Canadian investment-grade bond market; 1-10 Year Canadian Corporate Bond Index ETF (GCIG), targeting shorter- and intermediate-term corporate debt; and 3-10 Year U.S. Treasury Bond Index ETF (TMTX), providing intermediate U.S. Treasury exposure.
BMO Debuts Single-Stock Autocallable ETF
BMO launched the BMO Strategic Autocallable Income US Large Cap ETF (ZACU), its first dedicated autocallable ETF, with CAD (ZACU), currency-hedged (ZACU.F) and USD (ZACU.U) units. The actively managed alternative fund uses single-stock autocallable derivatives linked to large-cap U.S. companies to pursue regular income.
RBC iShares Adds Market-Neutral ETF Series
RBC iShares launched ETF Series units of the RBC QUBE Market Neutral World Equity Fund (CAD Hedged) (RNWH), bringing RBC Global Asset Management's quantitative long-short equity strategy to Cboe Canada in a CAD-hedged ETF format.
Regulatory Filings
Sun Life Files Two MFS-Subadvised Equity ETFs
Sun Life Global Investments filed for the SLGI MFS Blended Research Global Equity Fund – ETF Series (SBGE CN) and SLGI MFS Blended Research International Equity Fund – ETF Series (SBIE CN). Both would combine quantitative and fundamental research, with SBGE investing globally and SBIE focusing outside Canada and the U.S.
Product Updates
Scotia Global Asset Management plans to increase direct ETF exposure in its Essentials Portfolios to at least 51% by March 2027, rename the four strategies as “ETF Portfolios” and reduce selected management fees. Vanguard Investments Canada raised the Vanguard Conservative ETF Portfolio Fund's risk rating from “Low” to “Low to Medium,” while Harvest lowered the Harvest Healthcare Leaders Enhanced Income ETF (HHLE) from “Medium to High” to “Medium” and raised the Harvest Premium Yield Treasury ETF Class B (HPYT.B) from “Low to Medium” to “Medium,” with no changes to the funds' investment objectives or strategies.
